OSHA Training

OSHA is the Occupational Safety and Health Administration- With OSHA you need to know:

  • - that the government mandates training each year;
  • - that you must follow certain guidelines in your office practice and
  • - that the government checks each year to make sure that you have had the training and are following the guidelines. If you don’t you may incur fines and/or be denied renewal of licenses needed to operate.
Who Must Participate?

While only those staff members with direct patient contact (nurses, MAs, techs) are required by the rules to participate in OSHA training, it is considered best practice to have all staff members participate since it is very possible that any of them may accidentally come in contact with blood or other contaminated hazardous material such as a spill in the hallway or a patient bleeding at their work area.

Who is Covered?

All employees who could be “reasonably anticipated” as the result of performing their job duties to face contact with blood and other potentially infectious materials.
